On the Move

There are so many details to take care of when you move! Truck, water, gas, hydro, cable, telephone… Luckily I’m member of a two-woman team coordinating all of these details. Tamara has been awesome so far, we seem to communicate really well. We have daily update sessions to let each other know what’s going on with our plans. So she booked the truck and hooked up the gas, the landlords take care of the water and hydro, I took care of the phone and key pick-up. Luckily I already have a lot of stuff from living at school, mostly kitchen stuff. So we shouldn’t need to buy too much.
Mom and I are going up tonight around dinner time so she can see it and be part of the whole, “my daughter is moving out on her own” experience. Since I don’t already live with her it’s not like I’m leaving her or anything, but my mom has a way of making all milestones extremely sentimental. The truck will be arriving at my house at 9:30 tomorrow morning. My friends, Steve and Vicki (engaged couple) are coming over around 9 to help get everything out of the house and onto the truck. I will provide coffee and bagels. My good-for-nothing brothers will be asleep the entire time. Matt is excused since he tore a ligament in his ankle Thursday and can’t even walk. My other friends, M and S will be meeting me in my neighbourhood at the Tango Palace (no, it’s not a strip joint, it’s a coffee shop) and will help unload the truck at the new place. The first order of business, once everything is unloaded, is to get the deck in shape. I haven’t decided if I’m going to sleep there tomorrow night or wait until Monday night. I have Monday off of work, and will do groceries and maybe an IKEA run that day. Lots to do and think about! Will keep you posted.
