Ahhh, summer. With the recent heat wave in the Greater Toronto Area, we were hit with a blackout at work yesterday. Around noon the power flickered off at my office. I was able to get to the lunchroom, had lunch, and when I returned to the ninth floor where I work, I found my friends, who were frantically searching for a deck of cards. There were none to be found, so I suggested we make a deck. So each of us made a suit on printer paper, using red or black Papermate pens. Cam was very excited to draw the queen, but by the time we finished, the poker geeks came up from their game and loaned us the deck. So we started a game of Hearts. Around 1:30 the VP came around and told us all to go home! Happy, happy, joy, joy. It took all of five minutes to arrange for Jim and Michele to come over to my house. The deck in the backyard was the big drawing card. So they came over, we had a few beers, played three-handed Hearts, and then had corn on the cob and caesar salad for dinner. It was a mother of a hot day, so it was great just sitting out back in the shade and keeping cool. The weather is a little more bearable and the power is back on today…
Happy 4th of July, everyone.
