Today I am reminiscent of Key West.
From the Celebrity Cruiseline website:
Ernest Hemingway called this two-by-five mile island “a fine country,” and it was here in the 1930′s that he wrote two of his greatest masterpieces. This conch republic has changed little since his day. Gingerbread-style houses still line Duval Street and six-toed cats still wander around Hemingway’s property. Have a drink in one of the Key’s watering holes or board the Conch Tour Train for a tour of the city.
Cool webcams, some personal photos of mine from previous visits, a cruise schedule for the island.
Here are some restaurants I visited:
- Mangoes (have the gazpacho and get a table outside under a big banyan tree)
- Kelly’s (owned by Kelly McGillis, of Top Gun fame…get a table outside on the upper deck, overlooking the trees and lower tables)
- Hog’s Breath Saloon (have the house punch…you keep the cup)
- Sloppy Joe’s (yummy frozen margaritas)
- Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville (Amy’s number one margarita pick)
- Fat Tuesday’s (151 Octane is deadly)
- Rooftop Cafe (fantastic breakfast, perfect with a mimosa)
Anyone have some Key West memories to share?
