Wow, I had been getting so overtired, and this weekend I caught up on some rest, and had some fun, too.
On Friday afternoon I got home from work at the usual time, about 1:30, and by 2 I was asleep. I got up around 5 and spent the evening puttering around the apartment, did the mountain of dishes that had been piling up, did some laundry, etc. I find attending to those details relaxing somehow. Did all of this with some good music on at a nice volume, as I was the only person home in our house. Went to bed and read after watching Sex and the City and slept until 10 Saturday morning. On Saturday I went out to Canadian Tire and got some firelogs, icicle pansies, Kraft bags for compostable waste, and I bought a coffee maker. Just your basic model. Of course after that I had to get some coffee for it, so I stopped off at Starbuck’s and had them grind up a quarter pound of Breakfast Blend for me. I went home and set up the coffee maker, then went outside and pulled all the summer flowers that had been killed by the frost, out of the ground. I turned over all of the dirt, and planted the icicle pansies and some bulbs. After that I got ready to go out and went over to saxman’s. I picked him up and we went to the Pilot, where he was playing backup for a band there. S and M showed up, as well, and it was pretty fun. We drank amaretto sours and laughed at the people who were dressed up for Hallowe’en. We got back to saxman’s around 3 am (really 2 with the time change). Sunday morning saxman had to go work at the A.G.O., so I dropped him off, went to the grocery store, and went home and had a sandwich and made a cherry pie (frozen). After I took it out of the oven I finished a book I had been reading (Nick Hornby’s “How to be Good”) and had another nap. When I got up I made a lasagna, my first one ever. They’re so easy to make! I won’t be buying the frozen kind anymore. It turned out perfect, too. I made caesar salad and garlic bread to go with it, and saxman came over after work for dinner and was all impressed. We watched “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” and some of a documentary about New York City. It was a lovely evening, and weekend.
(Edited on June 5, 2007 to add: Boy, did I know how to write a gripping blog post. God, I just bored myself re-reading that one.)
