So That’s What Weekends Are For!

Yesterday I had dinner at my parents’. Present were my brothers Matt, Saul and Dana, Dad, Heather, Gramma, my Aunt Patsy and cousin Nat, and Saul’s gf Amanda. We were all standing in the kitchen at one point, pots and pans clanging, water running, people talking, when Saul blurts out, “So Amy, you still with that sax man?” The room fell silent. There was only one thing to say. “No.” No explanation, no apologies, everyone just went back to their business. Heather apologized on his behalf later on. It was inevitable, though. I was waiting for someone to mention it. Last night I went over to my friend Kolleen’s, and we went for a coffee and then back to their house to sit in the hot tub. It was really good to have some quality girl time. I miss my girlfriends who live in Oshawa. Everyone is so busy with their own lives, it’s really hard to make time for one another. It’s a lot of fun when we do find that time, though. She has twin boys, 7 months old. Adorable. They were sleeping, though. This morning I had brunch with friends M and Christy, who work at my old company, at a restaurant called Mildred Pierce. It was very yummy. I think brunch is my absolute favourite meal. Walked downtown a little with my tall hazelnut latte from Starbuck’s, and came home for a much-needed and well-deserved nap. I am a big fan of “the nap”. That reminds me, Saturday Heather and I went to Leon’s and I bought a bed. It’s a Sealy Posturepedic, queen-size pillow-top. It’s being delivered on Wednesday and I can’t wait! I’ve had enough of sleeping on a futon. It’s time I had a grown-up, non-student bed. So a lesson learned this weekend: Spend as much time as possible with family and friends on weekends.
