Weekend with the Family

This has been an absolutely lovely weekend. I went to Cobourg on Friday afternoon to see my mom. We had a really nice visit. On Saturday I helped her take a bunch of stuff out of her storage space, which she’s trying to empty out. We didn’t empty it, but made four trips back and forth from there to her apartment. We ate chips from the chip-truck and rented a video (Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood) Saturday night. We also dug up a whole bunch of plants for me to bring home to the garden in Toronto. This morning I got up a little early (at least early by Sunday standards) and went down to Oshawa to visit with my dad, since it was Father’s Day. I brought him a card and a burning bush. We had breakfast together, a sort of tradition for us. I went out shopping with Heather at the Dollarama and Wal-Mart and picked up a few things I needed. Heather dug up a bunch more poppies and columbine and some other plants for me. Listened to my brother on the radio. He’s been hired full-time at Rock 94.9 in Oshawa. His radio name is “Matt Diamond”. He’s really relaxed into his on-air voice and I think he sounds great. We’re all pretty proud of him. The station was recently rebranded by new management, who wanted to keep him on and develop his personality. I got home around 4:30 and had to plant everything so the new plants wouldn’t all croak. Now everything is in the ground and looks just great! I can’t wait for things to start filling in. Now I’m pooped. Time to relax before starting all these new jobs this week!
