Working Weekend

Worked my first shift at the ACC yesterday. It was a long one, 10.75 hours. I have to get new shoes, I’ve got blisters on my feet. I think the job is going to be great, not too difficult. Imagine the Beverage Supervisors on the ship. That’s sort of my job at the Air Canada Centre, but the employees who work for you are unionized. The Barenaked Ladies were awesome, although they were on at the Skydome. I saw some of their act on the Jumbotron. They said all kinds of good things, like, “Support your healthcare workers! Support your hospitality workers! Get out into the city and do something!” I was impressed. The other performance I saw some of was Sarah McLachlan‘s, and she was fantastic, too. She’s working on a new album after having had a baby. Had brunch with M this morning and then we went over to the garden centre and I got some more flowers. We also put the air conditioner in the window so when it gets really hot I’ll just have to turn that baby on. Got my stuff back from the “ex”, minus one favourite Strongbow t-shirt. I have e-mailed a request to have it returned as well. The only thing in there that sort of plucked at my heartstrings was the hair clip I first left at his place as a sort of “test” to see if I could leave stuff there. You know, the way Carrie first left a pair of panties at Big’s…a little reminder of a girl’s self in her bf’s apartment. Having a little bbq tonight with some employees from my old job (from Hell). The weather is beautiful today—the warmest it has been all year at 29°C. With the humidity feels like 32°C. Got my first sunburn today, in fact. Summer is here!
