Last night at the ACC the Dixie Chicks performed. (I was going to include a link to their official website, but you can’t access any of the material on it without paying a $30 membership fee.) Their stage setup was awesome. They had it at the centre of the arena, instead of at one end, as is usually the case. There was a sort of walkway all around it in a whirly shape that the girls used to play to all of the audience. It’s hard to explain, but in between these walkways and the actual stage were two areas called the “chicken coops” and the new country station here in Toronto held contests that awarded these seats to the fans. I was able to catch the opening of the show. The band rose out of the floor with “Goodbye Earl” as their first number. The only other tune I watched them play was “Long Time Gone”, one of my favourites. The rest of the show I was busy counting tills and inventory. I think Toronto fans were really rewarded for their patience with this group last night.
Update: Read a review of the Toronto show.
