After a good heart-to-heart talk with my roommate last night, I am feeling much more positive about the prospect of returning to school full-time. Life is too short to settle for less than what fascinates you. Debt is debt. I originally applied to Seneca College’s
collaborative nursing program with York University for January. The only problem is, the campus is in
King City, about a 45-minute drive away, which will make it difficult to get back to the city in time to work at the ACC. So then I started to consider Practical Nursing. In doing so, I came across another collaborative
nursing program at
Centennial College with
Ryerson Polytechnic Institute (considered a university here in Ontario). The only hitch is that they do not have January entry, so if I get accepted I’ll have to decide quickly if I want to do this now, this September. The campus is much closer and
the program sounds a lot more well-rounded and interesting. So this morning I added their B.Sc.N program to my application. Yet to do:
Now the trick is to get my high school transcript to them. It seems every time I call my old school, the guidance counsellor is sick, on holidays, or they’re not open on Fridays. Grrrr. What a pain in the butt. I keep making trips down to Oshawa only to be denied.
Apply for OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program). Tamara received the maximum amount last year, and she was in basically the same situation as I am now. I am locked out of the online program right now, so I have to visit the financial aid office in Scarborough and get a temporary password. Then I’ll apply and cross my fingers.
