Free Steak

Tuesday was my first full day working in the scheduling/payroll office at work. An ex-employee, it turns out, is now managing a new Keg restaurant on York Street downtown. The restaurant was holding its “practice run” that night, and I was invited to join the assistant managers for dinner out. It was really great. We were brought an envelope that contained the menu for our dinner, and we pretended to order so the waiter would be able to practice. I had a 7 oz. filet and baked potato. There were also appetizers (I tried escargot for the first time) and dessert. But the best part was that drinks were being sold at cost. That translates into $2.75 for two “Keg-sized” bloody caesars, and then $2.75 for two double Bailey’s at the bar later on. An entire evening out for $5.50 plus tip…not bad!
