A coworker was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting at 5:00 pm in Scarborough last night. Brenton was sitting in his car with a friend at a red light when an SUV pulled up alongside and open fired into the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was only 31, always cheerful at work, laughing and telling jokes and acting silly. Everyone liked him. He had a great attitude. We all agree that it’s too bad the Raptors didn’t play at home last night because if they had, Brenton would have been safe at work at the time he was shot. I found out about this when I got to work today. It was a very sad day, with most of us crying at some point. Most were considerate of the others, a few less tolerant, one made an inappropriate comment. I suppose everyone handles their grief slightly differently but one thing is for certain: we realize that life is fragile and we should appreciate those around us while they are here. Please take a moment and give thanks for your loved ones.
