Oh man, I don’t know how it is that I’ve managed to make it into work today. My brain has pretty much been mush all morning. Only now has the Starbuck’s begun to kick in enough to allow me to make this entry. I went from my job here at the publishing company yesterday straight to the Air Canada Centre. I ran one of the Inseat Service pantries during the World Cup final game last night (Canada vs. Finland…Canada won). For those of you who worked on board a cruise ship, you know what “pantry” means. It’s just like that. Any fan who sits on the 100-level at the ACC can place an order in his/her seat and have their food delivered to them. To accomplish this, we use handheld devices that are a lot like PDAs. Well lately these devices have been crashing. This happened all throughout the entire World Cup series. We had to go manual, which meant that I had to manually enter all of the orders placed in Infogenesis on the POS terminal in the pantry. I also had to manually authorize and accept all credit card orders (lots). All of this “fun” resulted in my being down there until 12:45! Ugh. What a night. I’m glad the series is over. I didn’t get to see any of the hockey game or participate in any of the celebrations which followed. (Apparently the fans got a little rowdy…some were arrested and a couple of cops injured downtown.) Glad to be moving back to concessions for a nice, easy American Idols—Live! shift on Thursday. Now back to editing…
