Yesterday I e-mailed the Sr. Manager of Quick Service at the Air Canada Centre and officially resigned. I did this for a few reasons:1) Working full-time at the publishing company I earn enough money to support myself.
2) Working at the publishing company means I am only available to sign up to work weekend shifts. Since I don’t want to work 7 days a week, I’ll only end up signing up for 3 or 4 shifts a month. This isn’t the kind of commitment the company is looking for from its supervisors.
3) Living further away from Toronto will make the travel-time to the ACC more of a pain than it is worth. Working 3 shifts per month will not make me enough money to really improve my quality of life much, if any. I know I’m lucky to have the luxury of leaving a job, and I don’t take that for granted. My living expenses are going to decrease considerably when I move out of Toronto.
4) I basically just feel like my time there is finished. I no longer look forward to going to work shifts. I had a lot of fun while I worked there, but the Food & Beverage industry is not my career focus.
There are plenty of things to look forward to!
(P.S. Time again for a new look/feel. This is much cheerier when it’s grey and drab outside.)
