Friend news.

It’s been a week since Phoebe died. I promise I’m not going to go on and on about it here all the time. I just wanted to say that I’m able now to think about what a happy little life she had for eleven years, instead of just focusing on the one last, sad day of her much longer, nicer life. I have a picture of her taped up on my cubicle wall, and I look at it and smile.

I want to say congratulations to my friend Heidi who has finished her consolidation for her Bachelor of Nursing degree. Not only that, she completed it at the Hospital for Sick Children. I know she’ll be a fantastic nurse, and I feel excited for her, to be moving away from her formal education and on to the next phase in her “grown-up” life with her hubby, Steve.

The weather is warming up nicely, but we’re expecting a winter storm tomorrow. Ugh. I’m not too discouraged, though, because it’s supposed to be over 10 C on Sunday, so whatever comes down will be melting quickly. I’d rather it rain. Yesterday we had a thunderstorm while I was sitting in my car on my lunch break (I was eating a bagel BLT) and it sounded great.

The painting is progressing in our house. The upstairs spare bedroom is a lovely gold-yellow and the bathroom downstairs is also mid-job. It’s more of a taupey-yellow sand colour. I’m mostly looking forward to having the front foyer painted.

My friend AndrĂ©e was having her labour induced yesterday. I can’t wait to hear if she’s had a girl or a boy! I’ll be meeting the baby next weekend at the baby shower her mom is holding for her.

  1. Heidi says:

Thanks, Amy! That is so sweet of you. I am looking forward to the rest of my “grown up life” as well! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I am also glad to hear you’re focussing on the happy times with Phoebes. I know how hard it is to lose a pet, and how much a part of the family pets can become. I would be crushed if I lost either of my cats, so I am thinking about you every day and hoping you’re doing all right. As for your friend, congratulations to her! Babies are wonderful! (I can’t WAIT to have my own – perhaps you and I will have some at the same time, and we can visit and go for walks and stuff…eh? eh?)–>
