Ew, the weather got horrible yesterday. Not snow exactly…but freezing rain and rain and I guess what you’d call sleet. And it’s windy. Winter’s last little bash before spring finally, really sets in.
Margaret came over yesterday to help us do some more painting in the house. She finished the downstairs bathroom and front entrance and Graham and I worked on the upstairs bathroom (we went to Home Depot, too). When we got home from HD, Margaret said that since she hadn’t bought Graham a housewarming gift she wanted to pay for the new pedestal sink we had bought. It was nice, because she meant it as a gift toward us both, even though Graham originally bought the house before I was in the picture. Hugs all around.
Throughout the day I also did four loads of laundry and made us dinner (pork chops, broccoli and baked potatoes). I felt pretty proud as we sat down to dinner. Not because I can cook, but because…hm, this is hard to explain…because it felt good to sit around a table with people who care about one another and share a meal. Graham asked Margaret if he liked the coleslaw, and made sure to tell her the dressing wasn’t out of a bottle, i.e. that I’d made it myself. (If only he realized how easy it is to make, ha.)
Today we are going to Toronto to my old house for the last time. There is only the futon, wicker dresser (for my workbench outdoors) and my half-barrel to get. I’m going to leave my keys with RenĂ©e and Scott upstairs so I won’t have to return.
Awwww – thus ends the Toronto home legacy. What a wonderful ending to the Toronto house story – talking about your new family and the wonderful new life you’re building. I am so happy for you, Amy. And it’s so great to hear that Graham is so proud of you.
This is the post that I thought didn’t work! It didn’t, yesterday. So I’m glad it’s here now.
