On Thursday my manager sent me a meeting request for Monday to discuss my work @ home application. I submitted it on January 24. I’ve reminded him several times, and given him the opportunity to just tell me it’s not a possibility, but he hasn’t said that. Also, my group leader will be in attendance at the meeting, so I’m hopeful that my application will be accepted.
I currently commute 120 km each day (round trip) to work. The current average price of gasoline is 85.5 cents per litre, so working at home would save me a considerable amount of money, just in the cost of gas. I would still have to go in occasionally, but I could do it later in the day and avoid traffic. In nice weather I could sit outside on the deck with my laptop.
