What I was doing ten years ago:

10 years ago I was 18 years old. I had just gotten my first waitressing job at Casey’s in Oshawa. My Mom had moved in with her fiance and I stayed in our apartment to run the lease out. I was going into O.A.C. in high school and dating my boyfriend at the time, Breen, who I had met working at McDonald’s years before.

5 years ago I was 23 years old. I had returned from working for Disney Cruise Line in February, and was working as a summer student at OnX.com, an e-business solutions company in Toronto (where my dad also worked) and looking forward to returning to the University of Western Ontario to complete my Bachelor of Arts. I was taking a summer course by distance studies.

1 year ago:
1 year ago, I was 27 years old. I had just returned to work as a Content Editor at a publishing company after taking about a year away from that job to try some other things (a nursing program, a garden centre job and a job at the Air Canada Centre). I was really glad to have some stability back, i.e. benefits, salary, 9-5. I was living in Toronto with my friend Tamara in the lower level of a two story house. I was really into gardening for the first time.

Yesterday:
Yesterday I had to go to the typesetter in Whitby. Later my Mom came over to do some laundry and told me that sadly, our kitty Toby would have to be put to sleep. Graham and I went to the Village Inn pub in Bowmanville for supper. Food, atmosphere and service were excellent. We’ll return for sure. When I came home I found out that one of my internet/gardening friends, Sakura, had been killed in a car accident the night before. She had just moved to Ohio to begin a teaching job at Oberlin College. She was very excited about the direction her life was taking. She was a wonderful person.

I would never wear any of those things either, in that exact order. Well, maybe I’d wear a sombrero…..
