No MSG

We ordered Chinese food from a place called Sunrise restaurant here in Bowmanville a few nights ago. We had spring rolls, beef & broccoli, Singapore rice noodles and lemon chicken. It was all very tasty (although it wasn’t as good as it usually is), but about 2:30 in the morning I woke up with a horrible aching in my lower back, on both sides, right where I imagine my kidneys are. This happened the last time we ate Chinese for supper, but I didn’t make the connection until it happened again.

I was up for 3 hours and couldn’t get comfortable, no matter how I curled up or stretched out. Farley curled up on my chest on the couch while I watched American Justice and then the beginning of T.J. Hooker (horrible!), but man I was uncomfortable. I guess I just can’t digest MSG. We looked carefully on the takeout menu in the morning, and there was no prominently displayed, “No MSG!” proclamation, like there is on most Chinese restaurants’ menus. From now on I’ll be watching for that before ordering.

Did you know MSG is also in many other foods, such as packaged soups, chips, and crackers??

No, Heidi, I did not know that. Well, something in that order didn’t agree with me! Twice. :) –>
