My Gramma’s!
This last one is new…I found out this morning that my Gramma Holtby is going to be getting married in January. She is going to marry a man she’s known for a couple of years who also lives in her apartment building.
I found out about it this afternoon, and to be honest, I was very surprised at first. Now that I’ve had a chance to let it sink in awhile, I think it’s very sweet. She and John care very much for each other. He has shown himself to be a very kind and gentle and caring man and has been so good to her. Why not get married and spend their remaining years enjoying one another’s company and taking care of each other?
What I admire the most, I think, is my Gramma’s willingness to tackle marriage again after having been a wife for over 50 years. The getting used to someone else’s things, habits, mannerisms, quirks…I’m glad to know she won’t be lonely, and I’m sure my Grampa would approve of John. He’d want her to be looked after.
