Wow. It’s been a whole month since I’ve written here, which isn’t like me. The excuse I have is that things have been very busy lately. I’ve been adjusting to working a lot more, now that it’s fourth quarter in our company, the busiest of our year. I’m on a vacation day today. It’s autumn! It’s beautiful outside. I’d like to go over to our community garden and plant some garlic, maybe, if I have time.
I’ve also started my psychology course at Trent. The first two weeks were devoted to a history of the discipline and research and statistical methods. Tonight we’ll be discussing The Nervous System. Last week I brought my laptop to the lecture to take notes but I think I prefer just to write notes by hand in a notebook. It helps me stay engaged in the lecture. Solitaire and Hearts on the computer are just too tempting. It’s distracting to see other students who have wireless internet connections chatting on MSN Messenger during the class. This isn’t something I’ve experienced at school before. The first quiz is tonight so I have to do some review today.
It’s been determined that March 30 will be my last day in the office. April 2 will be my first day working back at home. This makes me very happy. I wish I could speed this up to avoid commuting in the winter, but I just have to keep looking forward to the spring.
We had our yard sale yesterday, after postponing it several times. Graham and I made about $120 and Mom made about $80. Not bad! At the end of Sunday we put the remaining stuff on the curb, and a lot of it has been taken away. Graham’s mum took a lot of stuff to the Salvation Army as a donation. Either way, we got rid of a lot of junk and the garage is ours again.
Graham and I went yesterday to Home Depot and looked at kitchen cupboards. We’d like to upgrade a couple of our cupboards. There is some wasted corner space and we should swap out the “blind” cupboards for proper corner units. Maybe we’ll even get a lazy susan. Ooooh. ha Graham’s going to tile the floor, and we’re planning on taking down the wall between the dining room and living room. I’ll paint, too, and that’ll be a big improvement.
