Today I checked out the new 24-hour Shopper’s Drug Mart in downtown Oshawa, justifying it because I had a gift card to burn. I managed to pick up a whole mess of stuff, including some “vanishing cream” (my skin obviously doesn’t know I’m 30 yet because it’s still acting like it’s 13).
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to drop a swift $50 at any Shopper’s Drug Mart? And now they’re all so shiny and new and pretty with long, brightly-lit aisles filled with yummy-smelling products (hair products, skin products, bath products, feminine products, etc.).
Last weekend Graham and I were on our way to our friends Kolleen & Derek’s for dinner and the red wine that usually accompanies a pasta dinner on a Friday night, and noticed that yet another new Shopper’s Drug Mart is going to be built a few blocks away from our house. This excited me.
“Oh, look!” I said as I pointed out the sign announcing the imminent arrival of one of my favourite stores. “We can walk there.”
Graham said something about how it’s probably too far to walk.
“We walked up here one day last summer…” I insisted. “I would ride my bike up here.” A last ditch effort to prove that I could get there without the use of a car.
I guess I’m going to have to prove it. And I’m pretty sure the call of shiny, shimmery, summer skin products will help.
