Assertagirl: Procrastinator Extraordinaire

So I’ve mentioned that I’m taking this introductory psychology course at Trent University, but I actually attend classes at Durham College, which is also UOIT. Confused? Me too. Anyway, about 6 weeks ago our class was handed out the first lab assignment for the term and I was all, “I’m starting this early so I can be done ahead of time and I’m all cocky because I already have a degree and how difficult can a first year introductory psychology lab really be?”

Well, I didn’t start it early. In fact, I didn’t start it until Saturday. Okay, really it was Sunday. Did I mention it’s due today? But on Saturday I downloaded the articles I was supposed to read in full (not gonna happen) and went over to Durham College/UOIT to go to the bookstore there to pick up a helpful book entitled, “Writing for Psychology”, only to find the bookstore was closed. Why I didn’t check the hours on the Internet first is still beyond me. I went to the library instead and somehow managed to borrow a book even though I didn’t have my student card on me and my ID has two different names.

Saturday evening Graham went over to help Andy run some cable wire so I had two whole hours to work on my assignment but did I get anything accomplished? Not reallly. Instead I rearranged my stereo and speakers on the bookcase and moved our framed family photographs and tidied the office and listened to Diana Krall and did the dishes and anything else that was more fun or interesting than reading about the Stroop effect.

Yesterday I procrastinated even more by heading out with Graham to Long Sault Conservation Area for awhile, then stopping in Tyrone for a coffee and a banana cream tart (even though I should have had an apple crumble tart like smart, smart Graham). Then we stopped at Archibald Orchards winery because who doesn’t need a wine tasting when they’re trying to finish a psych lab? Graham was totally my enabler yesterday but that just makes me love him even more.

Finally accomplished the calculations and the graphing and the ridiculous t-testing (which I still don’t know if I did correctly) last night. So today I have to write up the lab, which I should be able to do because I am a super-speed-typist. I’ve got about 8 hours to go and if I can actually finish this thing and get to class on time today it will be a miracle.
