Dreaming of green.

Today I totally wanted to play hookie and head downtown to look at gardens and plants with my friend Gayla. I mean, I didn’t actually offer to skip out of work or anything, because that would be wrong (cough). She did offer to let me come and play assistant to her on Tuesday and sit in the green room while she goes on the Gil Deacon Show that morning. This was officially my first green room offer, and I was very tempted to leap at the opportunity to see Gayla wearing gobs of orange tv makeup in person. However, that would mean getting up at an unholy hour to get downtown by 8:30 am and she understands that there’s no way I would have enough time to get a sufficient amount of espresso-based coffee into me by then. I’ll just have to wait for another opportunity to be a green room gardening groupie.

I spent the afternoon pouring over photos on Flickr tagged with “vegetable” and “garden” and fantasizing (yes, FANTASIZING is the appropriate word here) about my garden plans this summer. I’ll do my best not to neglect this blog over the coming months, but if you find I’m slacking here at Assertagirl, it’s probably because I’m busy posting over at Playing in the Dirt. Feel free to stop on by.
