This morning I am annoyed that our next-door neighbours decided to spray chemical pesticides all over their front and back yards. I guess they can do what they want in the back yard, but we share the front yard. It’s one of those pizza slice-shaped skinny lawns that isn’t really big enough to do anything fun on (like running through a sprinkler or playing Barbies or petting a kitty) but at least it’s a small swath of green to separate our driveways. I’m annoyed because it seems really inconsiderate to me that they can just up and decide to pay someone to poison the ground around their house with no concern for us, especially when I haven’t seen a single freakin’ weed in the joint. Harrumph. I can’t wait until it will be against the law to use chemical pesticides. That day can’t come quick enough, in my opinion. Chemical pesticide use is against the law in Toronto, why can’t they be against the law in Bowmanville?
Then as I drove to work I could see an incredible, oppressive, grey haze along the horizon. It’s May 31st! By 10 a.m. the temperature was 29°C, 32°C with the humidity factored in (that’s 90°F for the one American who reads this site). It makes me scared and sad about the future of our planet, and I hate driving to work and contributing all that extra carbon to the atmosphere (more on that later).
So this article cheered me up when I saw it in the Star online. Go whaleys!
