Today is our official One Year Wedding Anniversary. You know what traditional gift is supposed to be given for a one year anniversary?
Paper.
What the hell?
I have enough paper, thank you very much.
Instead of giving each other paper, we’re hopping into the car and heading for a three day mini-vacation to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada’s wine country. In what appears to be a grand tradition of hotter than hot weather whenever we head to this locale, the temperature over the next few days is supposed to be in the forties. FORTIES. For you Americans and other non-Celsius people, that’s about a bazillion degrees. Hot enough to melt the paint right off of your car.
In 2005 we went to Niagara-on-the-Lake to check out some possible wedding locales, even though Graham hadn’t “engaged me” yet. The air conditioning in our car was broken, but do you think that would stop us? No. So we pitted out* all the way there, and all the way home, save for the sweet, sweet relief of air conditioned wineries and the cool mist of the falls.
Here we are, all hot and although we look kind of cute I’m really thinking, “Do you have to be actually touching me for this?” There’s all these little moisture dots on the photo because the humidity was unfreakingbelievable.
This time we are staying at a B & B that has a pond stocked with fish so Graham can play catch & release while I read a book and drink Caesars from a can. We also have tickets for a winery tour that includes being picked up and dropped off at our B & B so we can get rip-roaringly drunk, something we do on occasion, but not usually together.
