Yesterday morning after Graham went off to work sealing driveways, I hopped in the car with my cameras and a coffee and headed to Port Hope, a town about half an hour east of Bowmanville. The annual Art Festival was taking place at the farmer’s market there.
I drove on the back roads on the way there, cranking the radio and feeling great. I pulled over on the way and took this photo. I love the green and gold tones in contrast. This field is only about five minutes away from our house. That’s one of the things I do like about where we live…there are apple orchards and farmer’s fields just three minutes north of us. I took a couple of shots with the 35 mm I’m learning to use, too. The 35 mm camera is forcing me to learn and practice some patience, since, obviously, I can’t see the image until I get the film processed.
There were a lot of vendors there at the market, some selling paintings, many selling hand-made jewelry and some selling plants and vegetables.
I walked all around Port Hope’s downtown area and around some residential streets, looking around and taking photographs. Tell me, is there a town out there that doesn’t have a Capitol theatre?

If you’re having your morning coffee, and feel like browsing through a few photos, the rest that I took yesterday are here.
My great aunt lives in Port Hope. Love your shots!
Hubs and I almost moved to Port Hope. Seriously. Looked at a gazillion houses there. Because, LOVE. Then our realtor told us about a teeny tiny nuclear waste problem, buried on the outskirts of town. That was a buzzkill.
Bossy’s town. Bossy’s town doesn’t have a Capitol Theater. Or a drugstore or decent place to buy pastries. Or fresh flowers.
