On Rice Lake, Pt. 1

Graham and I had a great time relaxing eating and drinking with our friends Andy & Kelly up at Rice Lake this weekend. We did do some other stuff while we were up there, like shopping for bargains and fishing (the boys) and playing Scrabble (the girls), but the majority of the time was spent filling our faces. Those extra four pounds on the bathroom scale tonight are proof. Oy.

Graham and I arrived a little ahead of our friends, so we had lots of time to unpack and put our groceries away in the fridge.

We perused the fine selection of books left in the cottage for our reading pleasure.

When Andy & Kelly arrived, the guys went out fishing while Kelly and I played Scrabble. We had to use our cooler for a table, and we decided that every coffee table should come equipped with cup holders for snacks and beers. Nothing would ever spill! We are geniuses.

Each morning we had a wholesome breakfast of barbecued bacon and eggs.

On Saturday we went for a drive over to a nearby town called Warkworth to have a look around. On the way there, Andy & Kelly made a pit stop at one of Roseneath’s fine retail establishments.

We also stopped off at the local donkey sanctuary to pet them and feed them carrots. Jackasses.

Nosing for carrots.

On Sunday I really was wishing we could stay the whole week. It’s so easy for me to forget all of my obligations here at home when I’m there on that lake.
