A brief reprieve from the stress-inducing Christmas countdown.

Wow, that countdown really seems to be freakin’ ya’ll out. It’s not here today, not because I’m just that considerate, but because the camera is in the car and the car is an hour away on a hospital job site. So you crazy non-shoppers and not-yet-decorators are off the Christmas countdown hook for the morning.

Since I’m here posting, you may have figured out that my mystery guest didn’t make it into town on Tuesday as we’d hoped. Bad weather across the mid-west meant she may have been stuck on her stopover, and nobody wants that. Meh, what are you gonna do? We’ll try to do it again sometime, since I know you are all in such suspense over who the hell it is. (Aren’t you?)

On the flip side, I totally took advantage of the hotel room we had booked in Toronto Tuesday night because I drank a few pints at the Maddy with the MBT gang, and had a great time getting to know them. As a result I have a few new blogs in my feed reader, and I’m getting to know a few others that are already listed, in person. I always have that brief moment when meeting up with other bloggers that feels like, “These are my people!” We can talk about nerdly things like ad space and traffic and commenting and Star Trek Voyager (hi, Sci Fi Dad!).

I had booked yesterday off from work, so I did manage to get a little bit more Christmas shopping done, but as a result I’m a little bit afraid to look at my bank account today. Sigh. It’s gotta be done, though. Hopefully no panic will ensue.

Anyone with a uterus should avoid watching little babies on Santa’s lap in the mall, by the way. Dangerous.

Thanks for the shout out. NOW I finally have your blog address (thanks to Technorati), since all I knew was your “earth name” and that you’re writing for BHAC at MBT.

It was nice to meet you as well.

Finally, a little ST humour for you:

Star Trek – To boldly go where no man has gone before.

Star Trek: TNG – To boldly go where no one has gone before.

Star Trek: DS9 – To boldly stay where no one has stayed before.

Star Trek: Voyager – To boldly run away from where no one has gone before.
