Blogging is a medium that provides great opportunities for complaining. Venting, bitching, what have you…I’m guilty of it, too. Usually bloggers find ways to turn their complaints into funny observations, so it’s not a big deal.
Today I want to do the opposite. I want to send a little happiness into the blogosphere.
A few days ago Graham and I gave away some more stuff on Freecycle. We gave some laminate flooring to one woman and some ceramic tiles to another. I’ve heard that some people have had unpleasant experiences dealing with strangers via Freecycle. I must have good luck, because I’ve had some very positive experiences through it. Graham and I even managed to get a free twin-sized bed for our spare bedroom via Freecycle! Free furniture, people!
I digress.
Today, a couple of days after giving away the ceramic tiles (suitable for a backsplash), I received this message in my inbox:
Just a wee note of thanks for the great supply of ceramic tiles.Been planning out my next project…oh the math in involved lol ..
thank you again for gifting these to me for my humble fixer upper.
Being a sole parent and limited income this is great.

So to any of you who have had a bad time with Freecycle, I urge you to give it another chance. You might just be helping out a kind person in need.

I couldn’t agree more. We used Freecycle to offload a lot of gret things that we couldn’t sell when we moved back to the States. It is a fantastic system and there are always people in need.
