Busy, busy, busy.
Things have been a bit nuts around here lately…the big moment of excitement came when I was home Sunday evening after work, alone for a few hours, when I was able to do laundry! And vacuum! And clean the kitchen! When I was 18 or 19 and worked as a server at a restaurant, my mom would sort of laugh when I came home, because I would still be in that “bustling restaurant” mood, running around the kitchen to make myself a sandwich and clean up after myself with the same sort of speed and efficiency I used at work. The same thing happens today…I figured in order to wind down after a shift the best thing would be to take advantage of the continuing energy burst and get some things accomplished.
When we’re not at our day jobs, either Graham or I (or both of us) is at the restaurant working a shift there. It’s going well…we have a little stash that is slowly growing and we’ll take great pleasure in depositing it into the bank, inching a little bit closer every day to paying for that blasted car repair.
Looking out my window now, I can see that the snow has started once again. The weather network warns today of not just a winter storm, but a Powerful Winter Storm. I suppose that means we can expect the winter weather to continue on for several more weeks. I’ve spent a bit of time looking through my Flickr Archives, searching for signs of spring, and the dates on which these precious hints were captured. I had planted peas last year by March 28. Granted that was probably a little bit early, but it gives me reassurance that this long, nasty winter will come to an end within a few weeks. In the meantime, I’ve begun to plan my gardens out for this growing season. Chives were happening on March 24 last year and that is just about two weeks away. There is hope.

I waited tables for many years and occasionally miss it. I miss the energy that seems to flow through the restaurant and like you said, the coming home and having to force myself to wind down, but gets loads accomplished while I do that!
