Yesterday was our second wedding anniversary. Two years! The time has flown. We’ve been through a lot in those two years, not the least of which was the restaurant fire and truck fire, all within the last six months or so. The good news is that Graham got a call from his local union yesterday and was sent on a new job site today. They called at 4:55 pm yesterday, and told him to be at work at 7 am today. They don’t mess around! We were both very relieved, and had that to celebrate in addition to our anniversary as we sipped Mexican beers and margaritas at Mexicali Rosa’s for dinner last night. Then I kicked Graham’s ass in NTN trivia. It was hot.
Because Graham had to go to work today, last night was spent in a flurry of activity. He had to find his hard hat, which we’ve determined must have been in the truck when it burned (add that to the growing list of items we’ll be submitting to the insurance company). I made his lunch, filled his enormous water bottle and set the coffee while he looked around for the tools he’d need to bring with him in the morning. Of course there’s no time like the last minute to search the entire house for your union card, so naturally it was like finding a needle in a haystack. Man alive, we have PILES and PILES of papers around the house that need filing. I guess that will be my job, as appointed Minister of Finance/Administrative Assistant of our house.
Having Graham back to work, even if it’s just a job that will last a few weeks, has left me with an immense sense of relief. I’m a bit of a control freak sometimes (that’s the understatement of the year right there, folks), so it feels good to know exactly how much money will be in our bank account, and on what day it will appear there. Because DUDE, we need some groceries. And beer.
In other news, it looks like we’ll be trading the boat for our brother-in-law’s pickup truck. We’ll be the proud new owners of an aquamarine coloured Dodge Dakota. I’m so very typical, aren’t I? Women are always concerned with the colour of vehicles more than any other detail.
I’ve also been turned down for the BlogHer Keynote, which is actually not at all surprising to me, and somewhat of a relief. To be honest, I didn’t realize it was the writer herself who would be reading the entry, and having to stand up in front of that many very talented, critical (in a good way) and awesome ladies might have required an obscene amount of alcohol consumption beforehand. Come to think of it, there will be an obscene amount of alcohol consumed, anyway, so there’s that. In any case, my congratulations go out to the incredible women I’ve come to read, know and love, including Casey, Heather B., Schmutzie, Liz, Suebob…the list goes on.
Just one more week until the conference! San Francisco may not have enough margaritas.
(P.S. The always enthusiastic Jennster has set up a Flickr group for the conference this year, complete with threads for posting your URL, your travel plans and party plans. Seriously, if I wasn’t peeing-my-pants excited before, the frenzy in my brain has gone a little over-the-top. That babe’s enthusiasm is contagious. As she put it, “GET IN HERE!”)
(P.P.S. The lovely and talented potty-mouthed Mrs. Flinger is promising to LICK YOU if you post a little fun fact/image about yourself in preparation for the trip. check her out. She’s a hottie who apparently farts when she laughs.)

Yeah. About that. I could use a good lick before heading up there. WHEE!
moosh in indy.’s last blog post..I wish I could bring you all.
YAY!!!! Good luck with the job! I am proud of you for getting things together the night before. I would have did it the morning of!!
Colour is definitely a very important thing. I found that a close second is how the little things work. Ex. does the glove compartment just fall down when you open it or is it more hydraulic-like?
Mexi’s?!?!?! Love that place!!! It’s been years!!!! Whenever I go home we always plan to go and then next thing you know it’s the last day!!!
