First a confession: I’m experiencing some blogger guilt.
You may wonder how the hell it is that I can afford to go to San Francisco this week. What with the restaurant fire royally messing up our plans to get ahead, Graham having been laid off for a month and our truck burning to the ground, it’s been a pretty rough year, financially speaking.
I know I am fortunate, and that there are many awesome bloggers out there who either can’t justify the expense or just flat-out can’t afford it. I’m here to say that if it wasn’t for the little bit of ad revenue this (and my other) blog generates, there’s just no way I’d be able to afford to go.
It took many months to save up, but I was able to save enough money as a direct result of ad revenue and my other online writing gig at Suite101.com to pay for my air fare, hair cut and colour and even a bit of spending money for this trip. I was fortunate to land a BlogHership this year too, for which I am eternally grateful, since it covers the cost of my conference pass. All that’s left, then, is some food and drink expenses and my share of our hotel room, most of which will be charged to the ol’ MasterCard.
I’m not really 100% sure why I feel the need to explain all of this to you all, except that I know you read my complaints and sob stories about being broke, and I would hate for any of that to seem insincere or fluffed up here, because I appreciate each and every comment and e-mail and your words of support.

Deep breath.

Now that I’ve got that off my chest, I’d also like to express the profound levels of excitement that are coursing through my veins. (Can excitement be profound? I’ve decided…yes.) You know how little kids have so much friggin’ energy and life looks like a whole mess o’ fun for them? It’s because they get to express their excitement physically. They run, shout and wail it off. I think I need to go out into the back yard to run, shout and wail my excitement so that at least some of this nervous energy inside of me will be released!
I’m excited to be hanging out with two lovely ladies at the airport hotel tonight.
I’m excited to be staying with awesome babes in San Francisco.
I’m excited to stop in at the Experience Project party at Rye (this blog is going to be part of their Blog Discovery Channel launch), and that I might even be hitting it with Casey.
I’m excited about the People’s Party (DUH).
I’m excited to wrangle a mike during a panel that will discuss activism in the blogging world, featuring my lovely neighbour, and BlogHers ACT Canada.
I’m excited about finally getting to hang in person with Schnozz, who has so generously gathered bubbles, lotions and other yummy-smelling bath products for me from my favourite store in the whole, wide world.
I’m excited to be meeting up with one of my oldest friends at the Golden Gate bridge, of all places, on Sunday evening.
I’m excited to be exploring California for the week following the conference with my old friend, who will no doubt insist we geek out watching Battlestar Galactica at some point.
Gotta go pack! Hope to see you in San Francisco!

There are just some things that NEED to be done!!!
We’re paying off things and saving like crazy but I still find the money to pay for a cleaning lady every two weeks. Sounds funny, huh?!?!? It’s all about my sanity!!!!
Have great time!!!!
