Today feels like a good day to stay cozy inside, your favourite mug filled with a hot drink. I’m looking out my home office window as I type this morning, and the tree out front is turning a brilliant, deep yellow. It’s really something against the backdrop of an overcast sky. This is the time of year I’m especially grateful to be living in this part of the world. While I loved visiting California, I can’t imagine ever living there, missing out on the amazing display of colour our Canadian maples show us every year. This little tree isn’t a maple, and I took this photo last year about this time, but isn’t it pretty?

Yesterday Graham and I both had the same day entirely off from any job, which was fantastic. We headed out in the afternoon to do a few errands. We picked out some new fabric to cover the ugly cushions on our dining room chair seats and a little curtain for the kitchen window. Look at me…I’m going to sew something. We also got the “good bagels” from Oshawa and filled the tank with gas, and all without dipping into our bank account. Needless to say, we continue to enjoy the fact that we have cash after a weekend of hard work. Saturday night was my best night in the restaurant yet.

After our errands we ate dinner at Graham’s mum’s house where not one, but FOUR different meats were served: chicken for the kids, an enormous pork tenderloin and steak for the adults, and Margaret’s patented shrimp feast as an appetizer. Oh, and there were bacon bits for the baked potatoes, too. Vegetarianism would have thrown a huge wrench into her cooking plans.

I finally watched Grey’s Anatomy and ER from last week. Now, ER makes me cry on a nearly weekly basis, but last week I bawled. I mean, it wasn’t quite as bad as when Dr. Green died. (That required days of recovery time.) This week was almost as bad, and I didn’t even like Dr. Pratt very much. Still, did he have to die that way? C’mon, County General…I’ve got an itch only John Carter and/or Doug Ross can scratch.

This file aptly named “hot doctors.jpg”.

Tell ya what – you take Clooney, I’ll take Wylie, and everyone will be haapier ever after. Deal?

I just realized this very moment that I haven’t watched ER since Dr. Green died. Makes sense, though. That was devastating to my soft t.v. heart.
(But what did you think of Grey’s?! I have heard mixed reviews, but mostly that it’s looking horrible thus far.)

Cater hands down. I loved him.
Thank GOD someone else cries over ER.
My hubby was asking about that…why if a character is leaving a show does he have to die? Couldn’t Pratt have proposed to that chick and then they’d go off start their own practice somewhere?
But that wouldn’t make us cry now, would it?

Nice photo. Here in NY the trees are still surprisingly green, despite the cold weather.
