Oh my goodness, a spare minute! More than that, a spare EVENING! My mind is going to burst with the possibilities…
Oh, wait, I live in a small town in Ontario. The streets of Manhattan are not mine to paint red tonight. Oh, well. I’m still thrilled to have a busy night off from the restaurant. It just occurred to me that I haven’t had a Friday night off since the restaurant re-opened and I’m not sure whether that makes me want to laugh or cry.
Do you want to know what else makes me want to simultaneously burst into laughter and into tears? Here’s a little story for you. I was sitting at the end of my shift the other night eating my fifty per cent-off beef dip, combined with a lovely, frosty Coors Light draught and sitting with me were several younger staff members who were talking about good television shows. (Never mind that none of them were legally allowed to join me for said pint.) One of them mentioned new 90210, which you all know has earned a special place in my heart. I asked this younger staff member if he watched the original series when it was on, and he was all, “Dude, I was only THREE OR FOUR when that show was on.”
And then I died.
The end.
I get socked in the gut like that every once and a while and it takes all my strength not to order that second (or third or fourth) drink. Have a great evening off – you deserve it
