Well, this is awkward.

So today I signed up for this website called StyleHive because my friend Katie uses it and I thought it would be a fun thing to check out.*

Then StyleHive asked if I wanted to import my contacts, which I also thought would be harmless.  Then I clicked “NONE” because I didn’t want to bother people with forwards and spam and such.  Except all of a sudden I started to receive out-of-office responses from colleagues and people I haven’t been in touch with for years.  And suddenly there was a giant KNOT in the pit of my stomach.

I had to decide…do I take down this website entirely, or just let it be?

If you received an invite with the embarrassing subject line, “I love this-Check me out!”, I cannot apologize enough.  Sincerely. If you’re here at this website as a result of receiving that message, well, hello to you, too.  This is just a little something I do.

The website also sent an invite to my own professional work address, which placed the message in my spam box.  Hopefully it’ll do the same for the other people at my company.

Now excuse me while I go and throw up.

*(All of this took place on my PERSONAL computer.  Not my work computer.  I had some professional e-mail addresses saved there from back when I was a freelancer.  GAH.)

Oh no! You outed yourself. Darn.

I had something similar happen last week (that didn’t involve my blog, thankfully), I got an email virus and sent out a spam email to everyone on my email list, TWICE. Our geneticist and pediatrician and genetic counselor were on my email list, so I spammed them, too. Ugh.

Kyla’s last blog post..The magical disappearing post!

Oops. I didn’t get it, so it must’ve filtered to my spam. Poor you! I love you still, even if you spam me, spammer. ;-)

mimi’s last blog post..Do you believe in magic?
