Kitchen Renovation Day 6

So Graham went back to work.  And the job only lasted a day.  It turns out he was just sent to the site to fulfill some obligation that the contractor had to have a local union worker on site.  Then he made up a ridiculous reason to lay Graham off at the end of the day.  Get this: he said Graham wasn’t working fast enough.  Um, what?  Obviously the foreman, who was a mere 23 years old, had never met Graham or he would have thought of another lie to tell.  Every other site Graham has worked on, he’s made amazing impressions, and everyone has said they’d have him back to work for them because he is such a hard worker.

Speaking of which, we started to install the hardwood flooring last night!  I spent a few hours down on the floor, digging staples out of the sub floor before the hardwood could be laid flat.

It took Graham a couple of rows to get the hang of positioning the pieces in a staggered pattern and to get used to using the pneumatic nailer, and by that time it was midnight and time to call it a day.

Today’s efforts will be focused on getting the floor finished up and then we’ll be able to install the base cabinets.

I have to go rub the floor, now.

Wow, that’s impressive progress! Of course, this from someone whose 3rd floor reno last year took exactly as long as her pregnancy… Yeah. So next week, we are supposed to start the demo on our closet. I know, shut up.
