Today marks the eleventh week of my pregnancy, which means that the baby is looking more like an actual baby and less like a blob.
It seems that my gallbladder inflammation has finally subsided. It took almost a full two weeks for me to feel back to normal. My weight pre-pregnancy usually hovers between 134 and 136 pounds, and this morning when I weighed myself I was at 131 pounds. So you can see what kind of effect those two weeks had on both my appetite and my ability to eat anything of substance. Over the past two or three days I’ve been able to return to almost a regular diet, although I haven’t had any red meat at all, and I’ve eliminated any extra oils and fats in cooking. I think I’ll be able to eat pretty normally from now on, without having any greasy pizza, fast food, full fat ice cream or potato chips.
Earlier in the week I received the Bella Bands that I ordered because a few of my pairs of pants are geting a little snug, especially while I’m sitting at my desk working. It’s not that the baby is showing so much, but all the rest of the stuff in my tummy is sort of feeling…squished up a bit, if you know what I mean. The Bella Band is awesome, and makes it much more comfortable to wear my regular clothes.
I’ve found a few pieces of maternity clothing cheap on Kijiji…for $75 I’ve got nine pairs of pants and eight tops, all of varying sizes. If they don’t all end up fitting me, I have two girlfriends who are also pregnant, so between us I’m sure that’s a heck of a deal.
In spite of the gallbladder trouble, I’ve been feeling all around pretty good. I really expected to be completely out of commission for the first trimester, but I haven’t had any morning sickness at all. Fatigue is the biggest obstacle in my day. Working from home means I can fit in an afternoon nap most days.
Now that I’m getting closer to the end of the first trimester, I’m starting to feel more excited about the baby actually arriving. Every day it feels a little more real!

I remember that ‘squished’ feeling. Like internal congestion. The happiest part of my day was when I took my pants off, and it was ridiculous because I hadn’t gained any weight yet. And great deal on the mat clothes! Good work! Hooray!
Yes, I remember the squished up feeling. Bella bands are the best invention ever. It gave me acid/heartburn. As soon as I started going around with the bella bands (and maternity pants – even better) it subsided.
Congrats!
And what a great deal on maternity clothes!
I am 16 weeks now and totally now what you mean by everything being squished feeling!
I’m so glad pregnancy agrees with you!
I have three bella bands. Want them? They are all fresh n’ clean! Will send. Let me know.
