40 weeks pregnant: Think labour-y thoughts!

Today is our due date! And as I mentioned on Twitter, this means the baby is officially on borrowed time.

I was pretty crabby yesterday, and for no good reason. I took a moment to remind Graham that in spite of the fact that I was behaving like a royally grouchy four-year-old, I am, in fact, a very happy woman who is in love with him, still, and can’t wait for this family adventure to begin.

My mom is in town now, anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first grandchild. She stayed here with us from Wednesday until Saturday, and I know she was hoping against hope that I’d go into labour while she was staying here. I’m glad that didn’t happen, though. I feel like Graham is the only person I will want to see throughout the entire process of labour and delivery, although I suppose my feelings might change once the contractions kick in.

My last prenatal appointment will be this afternoon. Last week, my doctor said that if I hadn’t yet delivered the baby by today, then at today’s appointment she would book an induction for a week from today, meaning that the longest she’ll let me go over my due date is just one week. I am very hopeful that things will get going on their own this week so I don’t have to add the experience of induction to my birth story.

I hope that the next time I post here I’ll be showing you all a photo of our beautiful new baby boy. Thanks for all your advice, for listening, for cheering me on throughout the last 40 weeks. I’m blessed in so many ways.

So close! I was 5 days past due with both of mine. It does make one a bit cranky…but so worth it!

I know what you mean about borrowed time! I was so po'd when I thought labor had started and then the contractions just stopped a couple days ago! My due date is officially Wednesday and I am praying she comes on that day. Oh and trust me, unless your mom is a stand back and not get in your face AT ALL kinda woman, you don't want anyone else in that delivery room!! Mostly the hubby's will do whatever you tell them to at that point because it is so weird for them. I wouldn't have wanted anyone else there the last time!

  5. Good luck and best wishes for a healthy and easy delivery (and soon!)!

Only advice I have is for Graham ,don't wear your rings to delivery room She will squeeze your hand so hard that your fingers will almost fall off. You have been warned !
