Baby’s firsts.

Graham and I can hardly believe that Nate is already two weeks old. I think what we’re experiencing is a combination of gratitude that the first two weeks, the two weeks I’m told are the most difficult of our son’s life, are over with, and acceptance that we can see already how quickly his babyhood is going to fly by.

Nate has more and more alert and awake time during the day now that isn’t filled with indignant yelling and/or screaming, which makes him really nice to just hang out with. Right now he’s laying in the pack ‘n play trying desperately to get at his hands, which I have tucked into those little cotton mitts. Dude LOVES to poke himself in the eye and fish hook himself in the mouth. We can’t have that. The point is, he’s awake and laying there by himself and not crying. This makes Mommy happy.

Over the last couple of weeks Nate has had many “Baby’s Firsts,” and I thought I’d record them here.

Of the “Our Baby Won’t Do That” variety…

Baby’s first booger
Baby’s first pee-in-his-mouth
Baby’s first shooting poop at his mom
Baby’s first barf
Baby’s first skid mark

There have also been some more lovely firsts, like…

Baby’s first gaze outside at the snowy morning light
Baby’s first hiccups (they are the same on the outside as they were on the inside)
Baby’s first trip to Walmart (we survived!)
Baby’s first night sleeping in his crib
Baby’s first Christmas tree
Baby’s first sunglasses

Sunglasses from his Gramma.

We’re taking the time to appreciate every moment with him.

Ithought I was safe this time since my second was of the girl child variety! My son peed on his own head several times, but never shot projectile poop at me at 5 am like bay girldid last night! It is going by so fast and goes even faster as they start to become little people and not just sleepy babies. Enjoy it all!

  3. Awesome! He's super cute. It's both a shame and a blessing how fast babies grow up.
