Tuesday afternoon Nate got up from his nap and I decided that would be a good time for him to play in his Jolly Jumper. I like to put him in it after a nap because by then he has digested his last bottle enough that jumping and wiggling don’t make him throw up.
As he stomped his bare feet and bounced around in the opening between our kitchen and dining area, I started to get dinner read, pulling vegetables for our stirfry out of the fridge.
I noticed that Nate was drooling all over the floor, so I pulled over a couple of interlocking foam mats to put underneath him while he jumped. Little did I know that drool and spit-up were the least of my worries.
I heard an e-mail notification chime on my laptop and stepped over to the computer, which was on the dining room table, to check things out. Nate was about six feet away from me and I could hear him babbling as he jumped.
A few minutes later I stepped back toward the kitchen and looked at those foam mats beneath Nate with confusion.
At first I thought one of the cats must have thrown up, but I hadn’t heard a cat puke…then it dawned on me. It was poop. Nate’s poop.
It had oozed out of the side of his diaper, down both of his legs, into a pile on the floor, where he continued to jump and frolick and dance. In the poop.
“Oh, NATE!” I had to laugh. I didn’t know whether to reach for the camera or clean him up first. He had no idea what was going on. It was our first major blowout.
At least it took place on those foam mats.

Hahaha!
Oh no!!!!
Oh My GOOOOOOODNESS!!!
That is awful! Hilarious, but awful! At least it was on the mat and not on your floors!
Yes, I think I'll be making a habit of putting those mats beneath him when he's in the jolly jumper. Especially if he hasn't pooped yet that day!
Oh Amy that's really funny. Wait until you seem 'them' floating on top of the water in the pool!
I guess I'll have to get some swim diapers, won't I?
