Blogger Holiday Cookie Party

Santa’s Village has been set up in the mall, awaiting his arrival this Saturday afternoon.
There’s a dusting of snow outside this morning.
My next-door-neighbour has the electric candy canes in front of her porch lit up all night long.
2008 Blogger Christmahanukwanzaakah Online Holiday Concert sign-ups have begun.
Ready or not, the holidays will swiftly be upon us. Every year I am amazed by how you American folks manage to survive Thanksgiving AND Christmas (or Hanukkah) within mere weeks of one another. It’s impressive.
This morning I was thinking about how I’d better start baking some Christmas cookies soon. Giving tins of cookies as gifts is a tradition that my mom started when I was a little girl. She didn’t just give out a few tins of cookies. She spent WEEKS baking hundreds of dozens of cookies in preparation for her annual Christmas Cookie Assembly Line. She’d spend a whole day packing layers of shortbread and other squares into tins or plastic containers, labeling each gift carefully for all of the people in her life: doctors, teachers, colleagues, neighbours, the parents of our friends…the list goes on.
My annual Christmas Cookie Assembly Line takes place on a much smaller scale, but my mom had it right: it’s a totally fun and festive afternoon when you get to drive around town with the Christmas tunes on the car stereo, stopping here and there to deliver the much-appreciated treats to the people who are important to you.
All of this is to say that I’d be delighted this year to host a Blogger Holiday Cookie Party! I’d love to have you all over to my place to drink wine and eat cookies together, but well that’s just not gonna happen.
To join in the cookie party, simply post a recipe to your favourite holiday cookie between now and November 30th. On December 1st, I will post a round up of cookie party posts and we’ll have a great list of cookie recipes from which to choose for baking this holiday season. (Last year I found these awesome Shortbread Caramel Squares on Angella’s cooking blog and I intend to make them again this year.)
If you plan to “attend”, feel free to grab a badge and display it on your site to help spread the invitation.

Awesome! A virtual cookie swap… you’re rockin’ the holiday spirit!
I usually post the recipes from the cookie swap I have at my home every year and have found two that are the most popular in my search stats – Sugar Cookie Jigsaw Puzzle and Deluxe Chocolate Marshmallow Squares – I will gladly post them for your cookie recipe exchange.
Great Idea!!

I’ll post a recipe as soon as possible. Not sure if I’ll do it before or after I give myself a crash-course in HTML, but it will be before November 30.
